NEW! Language Classes offered in the Fall

Hindi Class by Richa Sharma

Namaste! My name is Richa Sharma. I will be teaching Hindi at Lake Forest Montessori. Teaching has been my passion. I would say it came from my mother, who was a professor of Hindi. Hindi is my mother tongue as well. What could be better than getting a chance to enjoy my passion with children? I love to be around children. I thank Mrs. Jeet and Mr. Cavinda for giving me this opportunity.

Hindi is one of the most spoken languages in the world. Hindi is an Indo-Aryan language, and a direct descendant of Sanskrit. It is one of the official languages of India and is spoken primarily in north and central India, not to mention the primary language in Hindi cinema, Bollywood.

Scientific research shows that learning a foreign language comes naturally for children when they start at an early age. It's important that a child grows up bilingual. We live in an increasingly global world where learning a second language can give your child many advantages.

In this class, children will learn Hindi interactively through music, gestures, poems etc. They will learn Hindi names of things around them like fruits, vegetables, animals etc. They would also learn Hindi alphabets, numbers and colors. It will be an entertaining, engaging and fun class.

On a personal note, my husband and I live in Foothill Ranch. We are blessed with two amazing boys named Shubh and Ayan. Shubh is in 4th grade and Ayan is in 2nd grade at Foothill Ranch Elementary. Both Shubh and Ayan attended Lake Forest Montessori, where they learned how to walk and talk. Looking forward to fun filled classes.

My Vision of Teaching Mandarin

Yongmei Chu

Hi! My name is Yongmei Chu. Thank you for giving me this chance to teach Mandarin at Lake Forest Montessori Preschool next school year.

China is well known a country with long history, unique cultural, language, custom and the most population in the world. Mandarin is the official language in China. China's economy is growing at a phenomenal clip in decades and the cultural exchange between America and China is thriving. Language learning is best started from kids; I am impressed to Lake Forest Montessori Preschool as they have the forward vision to make a chance and place for the kids to learn Mandarin.

My vision to teach Mandarin here is to make a fun time for the kids learning Mandarin with music, songs, poems, story, tongue twisters, gestures, interactivities etc. I will teach the kids how to greet, to know their body, colors, numbers and the stuff around them every day and so on, in Mandarin. Also, my vision is not limited to the preschooler; the door is open to all the kids and adults in the community who are interested in learning Mandarin. You are welcome to join us to learn Mandarin. It will be my pleasure to serve the community.

Below is a brief experience for me to teach Mandarin.

I graduated from University in China in 1984.

1995-2003, I have studied in Japan as an international student. During the stay in Japan I have taught Mandarin to the kids from K to 3rd graders for 4 years and have taught Japanese adults to learn Mandarin for 5 years.

2003-now, I moved to America and lived in California.

2004-2008, I have taught Mandarin to K and 5th graders for 5 years at Quest Learning Center in Cerritos, CA.

Now I am living in Lake Forest with my husband, who is an engineer and two sons (Chen, UCLA senior; Benjamin, 4th grade in La Madera)

To learn a foreign language is just like to open a new window to see the world, your life will be more colorful, your vision will be broader.
